Sherrards Occupational Health Services
How Does It Work?
At Sherrards Occupational Health, we can be commissioned to provide a fitness for work assessment in the conventional way. We pro-actively work with employers in the referral process, so that we can understand the needs of both employee and employer. We work with you to establish the most appropriate OH professional, whether Physician or Advisor (nurse). All are fully trained and qualified in occupational health practice.
Appointments are carried out by either telephone or video consultation. Occasionally, assessments are arranged face to face or onsite at the workplace. The reports we provide are clear, pragmatic and helpful.

-

Return to Work Medicals
These assessments evaluate an employee's current health status following an illness or injury to determine their fitness to safely resume work duties. The report provides clear recommendations to facilitate a smooth and supported return to the workplace.
-

Fitness for Work Assessments
We assess an employee's medical ability to perform the specific inherent requirements of their job role, especially where health concerns or performance issues are present. This helps managers make informed decisions regarding an employee's capabilities and any necessary adjustments.
-

Pre-employment Medicals
Our medicals ensure prospective employees are fit to meet the demands of their intended role, minimising the risk of future health issues or workplace injuries. This proactive step helps safeguard both the new employee and the business.
-

Health Surveillance
We systematically monitor employees who are exposed to specific health risks (e.g., noise, vibration, chemicals) as required by legislation to protect their long-term health. This ensures compliance with regulations while preventing work-related diseases.
-

Ergonomic Assessments
These assessments examine the interaction between an employee and their work environment, such as a workstation setup, to identify and mitigate risks of injury or discomfort. We provide practical recommendations to improve comfort, safety, and efficiency.
-

Ill Health Retirement Assessments
A formal assessment determines whether an employee meets the medical criteria to be permanently incapable of performing their job due to ill health, as defined by the company's pension scheme. This impartial service provides the necessary medical evidence for retirement decisions.
